Story & heritage
Hestra says the Army Leather Heli Ski was originally created for ski guides in western Canada who needed a reliable, warm glove for long days in snow and cold. That guide-first brief explains the long collar, wrist strap, carabiner and replaceable liner that made the model the brand's clearest ski signature.
The company's own history starts with hardwearing leather gloves made in Hestra, Småland, in 1936; the Heli Ski carries that work-glove logic into alpine and backcountry skiing. Official product copy calls it an iconic Army Leather Heli Ski.
Materials & craft
The glove uses durable goat leather for grip and feel, with a waterproof three-layer polyamide-fabric backhand. A removable liner lets the glove dry faster or be adapted to changing activity levels, while the snowlock collar and Velcro wrist strap hold warmth inside.
How to choose & style
Choose the five-finger version when pole feel matters; move to the mitt or three-finger family if warmth beats dexterity. Black is the clean all-mountain default, while red, navy and grey read more classic ski-school than fashion statement.
