Story & heritage
Hestra presents Wakayama as a retro-inspired ski glove for skiers and snowboarders, with a timeless design that also works in day-to-day use. It is one of the line's clearest style-led models rather than a purely technical gauntlet.
The name sits alongside Hestra's broader skiing heritage: the company began making gloves in Hestra in 1936, and demand grew when skiers came to the local Isaberg slope the following year. Wakayama translates that heritage into a softer, vintage-looking form.
Materials & craft
Wakayama uses cowhide with outseams along the fingers for a distinct look, freedom of motion and grip. A removable wool liner provides warmth, while the wrist opening adjusts with paracord and a neoprene inner cuff helps maintain fit.
How to choose & style
The cork/brown palette is the hero because it reads vintage without costume. Wear it with wool, denim, waxed cotton or simple ski shells; the mitt feels warmer and more chalet, while five-finger keeps the everyday shape.
