Story & heritage
MOMOTARO JEANS was established in Kojima, Okayama in 2005 and built around Tokuno Blue, the house’s deep indigo signature. The brand’s sashiko pieces extend that denim mindset into textured Japanese workwear rather than treating cloth as decoration.
The heavy jacket form gives the sashiko fabric more presence, so the texture reads as the main event and the silhouette stays deliberate.
Materials & craft
This jacket uses indigo-dyed double-weave sashiko cloth, with dark blue yarns on the face and asagi-colored yarns on the reverse. The page describes it as durable enough to recall kendo wear, while details like piping tailoring, reinforced pockets, and three-piece sleeves keep the shape practical.
Made in Japan from 100% cotton, it is meant to balance texture, movement, and structure in one layer.
How to choose & style
Let it anchor the outfit over a plain tee, a sweatshirt, or a simple denim base. The surface is busy enough that the rest of the look can stay restrained.
