Story & heritage
Le 5 à 7 takes its name from Cléo de 5 à 7 (Cléo from 5 to 7), Agnès Varda's 1962 film — a reference Anthony Vaccarello chose for a bag designed to transition effortlessly from day into evening, from five o'clock to seven. The hobo silhouette is deliberately clean: a single shoulder strap, a soft slouched body, and the Cassandre monogram set on a leather tab that pulls down the front.
Where Saint Laurent's quilted bags lean glamorous, Le 5 à 7 is the house's quietest everyday shape — minimal hardware, a low-slung shoulder carry, and a relaxed, almost vintage ease. It reads as Saint Laurent at its most pared-back: a bag that finishes a look without announcing itself.
Materials & craft
Le 5 à 7 is made in Italy from smooth calfskin, grained leather or suede over a soft, unstructured body that slouches under the arm. The single shoulder strap is height-adjustable by a metal buckle; the YSL Cassandre monogram is fixed to a leather tab that runs down the centre front and serves as the pull. The interior is leather-lined with a single open compartment — the bag's minimal organisation is part of its ease.
How to choose & style
The Small is the everyday size — slim enough to sit close under the arm, roomy enough for the daily essentials. Black smooth calfskin is the most versatile, reading sleek and minimal; tan suede warms it toward the house's 1970s register. The clean silhouette and low shoulder carry suit relaxed tailoring and denim — it is the Saint Laurent to reach for when the quilted bags feel like too much.
