Story & heritage

The Sac de Jour — literally the day bag — was introduced in the Hedi Slimane years as the structured counterpoint to the house's softer evening bags. Where the Loulou and Kate carry the Cassandre monogram, the Sac de Jour wears the house's name plainly: SAINT LAURENT PARIS stamped in gold across the front, a deliberately discreet, logo-light signature.

Its rigid, trapezoidal body, twin rolled top handles and signature accordion side panels positioned it as Saint Laurent's answer to the classic structured tote — a boardroom-ready bag that became one of the most recognisable silhouettes of the rebranded house, carried forward unchanged by Anthony Vaccarello.

Materials & craft

The Sac de Jour is built in smooth box calfskin or pebbled grained calfskin over a rigid internal frame that holds its architectural shape. The accordion side panels can be folded in for a slimmer line or left open for capacity. A leather-encased padlock and a clochette key holder hang from the handles; the interior is divided into three compartments. A detachable, adjustable strap allows shoulder or crossbody carry. Made in Italy.

How to choose & style

The Small is the everyday workhorse — laptop-adjacent capacity with a sharp, professional line. Black box calfskin with gold hardware is the canonical choice; grained leather wears more casually and hides scuffs. The Nano is the accessory-scale version, carried as a top-handle or crossbody. The Sac de Jour suits tailoring and structured outerwear — it finishes a polished, minimal look rather than softening it.
