Story & heritage

NMD is the newer icon in the Originals mix. Adidas' current NMD_R1 pages place it in Originals, while Sneaker Freaker records the original NMD_R1 as unveiled in December 2015, setting up a line that blended running technology with streetwear restraint.

Unlike the heritage models, the NMD icon is its midsole language: white cushioning, coloured plugs and a socklike urban runner shape.

The official NMD_R1 page confirms the current model as an Originals shoe. The design language centres on a textile upper, lace closure, grippy rubber outsole and the distinctive midsole plug geometry associated with the NMD family.
