Story & heritage
American Apparel began in 1989 and grew from a wholesale blank T-shirt business into a retail symbol of Los Angeles basics. The current official line keeps that blank-apparel language alive: simple bodies, broad colour cards, tear-away labels, and decoration-friendly construction for printers, crews, and everyday wardrobes.
The 2007 extends the Fine Jersey tee into a long-sleeve base layer, keeping the same relaxed, side-seamed language while adding rib cuffs. It is the American Apparel answer to the year-round blank: light enough to layer, plain enough to print, familiar enough to wear alone.
Materials & craft
The official page describes combed ring-spun cotton, a classic-width rib collar, taped neck and shoulders, rib sleeve cuffs, relaxed fit, side-seamed body, and a tear-away label transitioning to recycled material. The current product is tied to Better Cotton and OEKO-TEX low-impact dyes.
How to choose & style
Wear it as the quiet layer under overshirts and chore jackets, or size up for a relaxed skate-tee proportion. Black gives the cleanest line; heather and white make the piece feel more archival and casual.
