American Apparel began in 1989 and grew from a wholesale blank T-shirt business into a retail symbol of Los Angeles basics. The 2408 tank keeps the Fine Jersey collection's lightweight basic promise but strips the shape to neckline and armhole binding. It belongs to the brand's long history of fitted, body-conscious basics without needing logos or graphics.

The official construction lists combed ring-spun cotton, binding at the neckline and armholes, a relaxed side-seamed body, and a tear-away label transitioning to recycled material. Fibre content varies by colour; white uses 100% cotton thread.
