Story & heritage
Belstaff dates the Racemaster to 1981, when it was introduced as a shorter version of the Trialmaster for more freedom of movement. It keeps recognisable Belstaff waxed-cotton cues but makes the shape slimmer and more compact.
The zipped lower pockets are the giveaway. Where Trialmaster reads as field utility, Racemaster reads cleaner, closer and faster.
Materials & craft
The official US product uses 6 oz. British Millerain waxed cotton coated with micro and technical waxes. Details include corduroy at the collar and cuffs, an adjustable buckled throat latch, underarm vents, press-stud placket, two snap chest pockets, two side zip pockets, antique brass hardware and checked cotton lining.
How to choose & style
Racemaster works best when you want Belstaff without the long belted outline. Pair it with straight denim, heavy chinos or slim black trousers; the shorter length keeps the look neat.
