Story & heritage
Belstaff was founded in 1924 in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, and became known for wax-cotton waterproof apparel for motorcycling. The Trialmaster is the jacket that fixes that history into one silhouette: Belstaff identifies it as its definitive jacket since 1948, developed for the Scottish Six Days Trial.
The design's signature is functional rather than decorative. Four storm-proof bellows pockets, a belted waist and a slanted map pocket keep the riding origin legible, while the checked lining turns it into a recognisable Belstaff piece away from the track.
Materials & craft
The official US style uses 6 oz. British Millerain waxed cotton coated with micro and technical waxes, with water- and wind-repellent performance. Cotton twill check lining, corduroy at the collar, cuffs and hem, a buckle-adjusted collar and a centre zip with snap placket anchor the construction.
How to choose & style
Choose Trialmaster when the outfit needs structure without polish. Black sharpens denim and boots; olive or navy pushes it closer to fieldwear. Keep the belt tied or fastened if you want the original motorcycling line to read clearly.
