Story & heritage
Bouton d’or is inspired by the curved lines of the paillette motif, a Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry design from the late 1930s. The modern collection revives that archive geometry through color, repetition, and transformable pieces.
The pendant and detachable clip shows the idea at its richest: a jewel that can behave as necklace ornament or clip, with concentric paillettes creating a jeweled flower-like surface.
Materials & craft
The official piece is 18K yellow gold with chrysoprase, diamonds and onyx. The repeated rounded elements create the paillette effect, while the detachable construction gives the jewel more than one mode of wear.
How to choose & style
Wear it long over a dark column dress or use the clip as a concentrated color accent on tailoring. The green-and-black palette is strong, so it needs little help from other jewelry.
