Story & heritage
Atomic calls the Bent Chetler 120 an iconic freeride ski and Chris Benchetler’s signature model, the biggest brother in the Bent family. The current generation keeps the 120 mm powder brief but updates the core, profile and topsheet materials for more float, balance and playfulness.
The Bent Chetler sits naturally in Atomic’s Austrian equipment story: the brand was founded in 1955 and became known for making a complete ski system of skis, boots, bindings and poles. Here that system-thinking is filtered through a freeride shape rather than race discipline.
Materials & craft
The ski uses next-generation HRZN 3D in the tip and tail for extra surface area in deep snow, a poplar Light Woodcore, Dura Cap Sidewall construction, Powder Rocker 30/40/30, and a 120 mm waist. Atomic states the 2024 construction uses more wood and less metal, fiberglass and resin, cutting material-related CO2 equivalent emissions by 13% versus the 2022 Bent Chetler 120.
How to choose & style
Choose it as the statement ski in a freeride quiver: wide enough to be a storm-day specialist, still playful enough for slashes, side hits and creative terrain. The graphic does the styling work, so black bindings and a quieter boot keep the setup sharp.
