Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
The Royal Oak made cerebral: day, date, month, moonphase and leap-year cycle folded into the octagonal sports-watch case.
Story & heritage
Audemars Piguet has long been tied to complicated watchmaking, from early repeating movements to grande complication wristwatches. The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar fuses that old Vallée de Joux speciality with the brand's most recognisable modern case.
Within the Royal Oak universe, the perpetual calendar is the poetic one: a sports watch that tracks the civil calendar and moonphase without losing the octagonal bezel, integrated bracelet and tapisserie surface.
Materials & craft
The sourced steel reference is a 41 mm Royal Oak with a sapphire crystal and caseback, screw-locked crown, 9.5 mm thickness and 20 metres water resistance. Its blue Grande Tapisserie dial carries white-gold applied hour markers, Royal Oak hands and a blue inner bezel.
How to choose & style
This is a dress watch hiding inside a sports-watch silhouette. The steel and blue-dial version reads restrained; ceramic and openworked executions turn the complication into a statement. It suits collectors who want AP's complication heritage without leaving the Royal Oak shape.
