U-2/51-JET
A blacked-out military pilot’s watch shaped by RAF squadron cues and the MB testing story.
Story & heritage
The U-2/51-JET extends Bremont’s U-2 range, which Bremont connects to military air-crew watches developed after the Martin-Baker programme. The official U-2 page says the elite 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale wanted a watch with MB testing history and custom requirements.
This 51-JET version takes design cues from a project commissioned by the RAF’s 100 Squadron for its centenary, with a stealthier case and barrel colour echoing the squadron’s Hawk T1 aircraft.
Materials & craft
Bremont’s official page describes an exhibition case back with tinted black smoked glass, a black leather strap with black stitching and an additional Temple Island rubber strap. The U-2 family carries the dual-crown altitude-watch architecture associated with Bremont’s military pilot pieces.
How to choose & style
The U-2/51-JET wants contrast: black knitwear, field jackets, olive outerwear or a plain white tee. The smoked case-back and dark barrel keep it more tactical than dressy.
