Story & heritage
The Marcie was introduced in 2010 and quickly became one of Chloé's defining post-Paddington silhouettes — a soft, curved bag with a folk-meets-equestrian sensibility. Its recognisable face is a stitched front flap framed by saddle-style topstitching, a nod to the riding codes the house has returned to across its bags.
Designed during the creative direction of Hannah MacGibbon and carried forward by her successors, the Marcie has appeared as a hobo, a satchel, a crossbody and a saddle bag, and remains a current fixture of the collection under Chemena Kamali.
Materials & craft
The Marcie is built in smooth or grained calfskin, its panels joined with the heavy, contrast saddle-stitching that defines the line. The handle is wrapped in a whipstitched leather braid, and the front carries an embossed Chloé signature with slim leather pulls at the closure. The curved, low-slung body is lightly structured, giving the bag its characteristic relaxed slump.
How to choose & style
The Marcie is the easy, lived-in Chloé — tan and brown lean into its bohemian register, while black reads more polished. The hobo and shoulder-bag formats are the everyday workhorses; the small crossbody and saddle versions read lighter. Its soft curve and topstitching keep it from feeling formal, which is exactly why it pairs so naturally with the house's fluid, romantic clothes.
