30 Montaigne Bag
Named for Dior's founding address, sealed with the perfume-bottle CD clasp.
Story & heritage
The 30 Montaigne line, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and launched in 2019, takes its name from the House's emblematic address — 30 Avenue Montaigne, where Christian Dior established the maison in 1946 and showed his first collection. The bag distils the house's codes into a single clean flap silhouette.
Its defining detail is the gold-finish CD clasp on the flap, whose form is drawn from the seal of a Christian Dior perfume bottle. A discreet '30 Montaigne' signature is embossed on the back. Sleek and almost logo-free, it became one of Dior's most quietly popular shapes.
Materials & craft
The 30 Montaigne is cut from smooth box calfskin over a structured body, with a single front flap closed by the metal CD clasp. The leather strap threads through a small engraved slider stamped 'Christian Dior Paris' and adjusts for shoulder or crossbody wear. The interior is leather-lined with a flat zip pocket. Variants include the Avenue and East-West formats and Dior Oblique jacquard editions.
How to choose & style
Black box calf with gold hardware is the definitive 30 Montaigne — formal enough for evening, restrained enough for day. The CD clasp is the whole statement, so it pairs cleanly with tailoring. The chain and Avenue versions add a dressier register; the Oblique jacquard versions read more casual. It sits flat against the body, the way a clean flap bag should.
