Dior Caro
Supple Cannage and a CD twist-lock, named for Christian Dior's sister.
Story & heritage
Introduced in 2021, the Dior Caro is a tribute to Christian Dior's beloved younger sister, Catherine Dior — known within the family as "Caro." Catherine was a French Resistance fighter, a survivor of Nazi deportation, and the muse behind the very first Dior perfume, Miss Dior; the bag carries her nickname into the house's permanent vocabulary.
The Caro reinterprets the house's signature Cannage in a softer, supple form and closes with a CD twist-lock whose shape echoes the buckle of the 30 Montaigne family — making it feel like the relaxed, chain-strapped sibling of Dior's structured flaps.
Materials & craft
The Caro is quilted in supple Cannage calfskin — the diamond-stitched motif rendered soft rather than rigid — and fastens with a metal CD twist-lock at the centre of the flap. The strap combines a gold- or silver-tone chain woven through with leather, so it can be carried on the shoulder or doubled to shorten. The interior is leather-lined. The Macrocannage and Soft Caro editions push the quilting and slouch further.
How to choose & style
The medium is the everyday Caro; the small leans evening. Black with silver or gold hardware is the workhorse; ivory and the soft pastels show off the quilting. Worn long it's a crossbody, doubled it's a shoulder bag — the woven chain is the styling lever. It dresses up with tailoring and down with denim without changing character.
