Dior Bobby Bag

A curved crescent saddle named after Monsieur Dior's faithful dog.

Story & heritage

The redesigned Bobby bag was unveiled as part of Dior's Fall 2020 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Its name is a quiet piece of house lore: it honours Bobby, Christian Dior's much-loved dog. The couturier wrote in his memoirs that "each collection contained a suit earmarked for success called 'Bobby'" — the name he gave to the lucky look in every show.

Where so many Dior bags are structured and rigid, the Bobby was conceived for timeless modernity: a contoured crescent shape, smooth leather, and a soft, flexible suede-lined interior that lets it mould to the body.

Materials & craft

The Bobby is cut from smooth box calfskin (or grained calfskin and Oblique editions) into a half-moon body topped by a rounded flap. The flap is held by a leather tab that buckles through a gold-finish loop, with a raised CD logo pressed into the tab. The interior is lined in flexible suede. The strap clips off with snap hooks, so the bag can swap between a long crossbody and a short shoulder carry.

How to choose & style

The medium is the easy daily Bobby; the mini and East-West scale it down. Latte and ivory feel soft and warm; black is the all-rounder. The crescent shape sits naturally against the hip on the long strap, and the soft interior means it carries comfortably even when full. It's one of the more understated Dior shapes — the CD on the tab is the only loud note.
