Story & heritage
Le Raphia is the woven, summery side of Jacquemus — a line of straw-fibre bags and pieces that translates the house's leather icons into natural materials. Simon Porte Jacquemus doubled down on it with the dedicated Spring 2023 Le Raphia collection, a sweep of woven button-ups, blazers and handbags that turned the Provençal basket into a fashion object.
The Bambino in raffia takes the brand's everyday flap silhouette and weaves the body in wicker and straw, finished with smooth leather trim and the signature gold lettering. It is the clearest expression of where the designer comes from — the south of France, sun and woven straw — carried into the same shape that made the house famous.
Materials & craft
The raffia Bambino is built around a handwoven wicker or straw body with smooth leather trim at the edges, flap and handle. The gilt JACQUEMUS lettering sits on the front, and a detachable leather tag and adjustable strap complete it. The weave gives the bag its summery, tactile character while the leather framing keeps the recognisable Bambino architecture intact.
How to choose & style
This is the warm-weather Bambino — it pairs with linen, swimwear cover-ups and everything holiday. The natural straw reads neutral against almost any palette, while the leather trim keeps it from looking purely casual. Worn crossbody it is an easy daytime bag; the woven texture does the decorative work, so the rest of the outfit can stay simple.
