Soho Disco
The tasselled cross-body that became Gucci's most-carried everyday bag.
Story & heritage
The Soho Disco arrived around 2013, under Frida Giannini's creative direction, and quickly became one of Gucci's best-selling bags of the decade. A simple, round-cornered cross-body in pebbled leather, it answered a clear demand: a hands-free Gucci that was light, roomy enough and easy to wear every day.
Its defining marks are an embossed interlocking-G on the face and a leather tassel on the zip pull — understated next to the house's louder icons, which is exactly why it endured as a daily workhorse.
Materials & craft
The Soho Disco is cut from soft pebbled (grained) calfskin that gives slightly under the hand. The interlocking-G is embossed directly into the leather rather than applied in metal, keeping the face clean. A single top zip, finished with a leather tassel pull, opens to a roomy lined interior, and a long adjustable strap is set for cross-body carry.
How to choose & style
The Soho Disco is the easy Gucci — neutral, light, and built for the day. Black and tan are the classics and go with everything; the round body and long strap make it genuinely hands-free. It carries more than its size suggests, which is why it became the bag people reached for first. The most discreet of the house's icons, marked only by the embossed G.
