Story & heritage
Alpha Industries was founded in 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee and became known for American military outerwear. Its own heritage page identifies the MA-1 with the M-65 and N-3B as the jackets that made the company synonymous with U.S. military flight and field clothing.
The official MA-1 Heritage page calls it the first military bomber jacket to cross into civilian fashion. This current version keeps the idea direct: a short, reversible flight jacket with orange lining, sleeve utility pocket and ribbed bomber edges.
Materials & craft
Alpha lists the MA-1 Heritage as a mid-weight flight nylon bomber with water resistance, reversible construction, sleeve shirring, two lower flap pockets, two interior welt pockets, Ottoman-knit cuffs and a knit rib collar, cuffs and waistband.
How to choose & style
Choose the MA-1 when the outfit needs one unmistakable Alpha shape. Black is sharpest over denim and boots; sage is the classic military read; the orange reverse turns the jacket into a visible graphic layer rather than a neutral shell.
