Story & heritage
Alpha’s heritage page names the N-3B alongside the MA-1 and M-65 as one of the jackets that made the company synonymous with U.S. military outerwear. The official product page calls it a USAF snorkel parka.
The N-3B carries the cold-weather side of Alpha’s identity: longer coverage, a storm flap, reinforced elbows and a hood built to close down around the face.
Materials & craft
The official page lists a nylon outer shell with polyester interlining, water resistance, reinforced elbow patches, inset knit cuffs, channel-quilted lining, storm flap, handwarmer pockets, lower flap pockets and a lined hood trimmed with synthetic fur.
How to choose & style
The N-3B is the Alpha piece for real winter volume. Let it sit over workwear, denim or sweats; the thigh length and hood already create the silhouette, so dark boots and straight trousers keep it grounded.
