Type 20 Chronographe 2057
The military half of Breguet's aviation chronograph story, tied to the watches delivered to the French Air Force in the 1950s.
Story & heritage
Breguet's official Type XX collection traces its origin to the 1950s and the French Air Force. The Type 20 Chronographe 2057 is the military reading of that history, inspired by the 1,100 watches delivered to the French Air Force between 1955 and 1959, when the name was written with Arabic numerals.
It keeps the pilot-watch grammar legible and functional: a black dial, large Arabic numerals, flyback chronograph, rotating bezel and a practical date at 4:30.
Materials & craft
The 2057 is a 42 mm steel chronograph with 10 BAR water resistance, a sandblasted black-rhodium dial, brass sword-shaped hands and green luminescence. Its automatic calibre 7281 carries small seconds, flyback chronograph and date functions, with a 60-hour power reserve and 5 Hz frequency.
How to choose & style
Choose Type 20 for the more utilitarian aviation mood: fabric or calfskin straps, matte textures and a dial built around instant reading. It pairs naturally with denim, field jackets and technical outerwear, but the Breguet case finishing keeps it from feeling purely military.
