Story & heritage
The Amazona 180 arrived in 2021 alongside the relaunched Amazona family, taking the 1975 silhouette and rotating its logic by 180 degrees: where the original opens at the top with a padlock flap, the 180 opens along a full-length zip, revealing a more generous suede interior and a cleaner, more modern exterior. The tab corners at the base — an original Amazona detail — are retained.
Anderson described the 180 as a conversation between the archive and the current moment: the house's oldest bag shape re-engineered for a wardrobe that moves faster and carries more. The Lion Intarsio edition, with applied leather marquetry on the body, showed that the 180 format could also carry the house's more decorative instincts.
Materials & craft
The Amazona 180 is constructed in smooth calfskin over a semi-rigid internal structure. The full-length zip uses a cast Anagram-stamped pull; the interior is lined in tan suede. The characteristic Amazona corner tabs — originally designed to reinforce the base of the 1975 bag — are preserved in the 180 as a heritage signature. The LOEWE wordmark appears across the top front panel in silver- or gold-tone lettering.
How to choose & style
The Medium is the right size for a full working day — laptop-adjacent capacity without briefcase bulk. Black with silver hardware is the most versatile and understated reading; the Lion Intarsio version in white with applied calfskin marquetry is the statement piece. The single arched handle works best in hand; the strap option allows shoulder carry for longer days. Suits clean, minimal dressing — the 180 doesn't need company to land.
