Story & heritage

Launched in 2016, the Hammock extended Jonathan Anderson's architectural rethinking of the Loewe bag vocabulary. Where the Puzzle was origami-geometric, the Hammock introduced adaptable form: its side panels can be released to expand the bag into a hammock-like open tote, or cinched in for a more structured, compressed silhouette.

The Hammock quickly earned a reputation as one of the most versatile bags of its era, capable of shifting between daytime shoulder carry and evening clutch-adjacent compactness. Members of the Spanish royal family — including Queen Letizia — have been photographed with Loewe bags, and the Hammock fits the understated, craft-forward codes that made Loewe a court favourite.

Materials & craft

The Hammock is crafted in classic calfskin, soft grained calfskin, or woven leather. The signature zip-in side panels are attached with a discreet internal mechanism: releasing the zips allows the sides to flare outward; zipping them back creates the collapsed form. All hardware is polished silver- or gold-tone; the Anagram is embossed into the leather rather than applied as a separate element.

How to choose & style

The Small with panels cinched makes a clean, structured shoulder bag; opened up it transitions to weekend-tote territory. The Mini is the dressy option — it holds a phone, keys, and cards with room for the evening's essentials. Neutral calfskins (tan, black, ecru) are the most enduring choices; the woven editions dress up for spring.
